Good morning everyone — I hope you're having a great week! 💙
We've got an important Food & Wine update to break down for you today. First, we're taking a closer look at the allergy “phone” system being used at EPCOT's festival booths, including what Disney officially confirms and what guests are reporting about the “Accept Consult” and “Decline Consult” process.
Then we'll catch you up on a few recent Disney dining updates, including a new menu coming to Magic Kingdom, the reopening of a popular Disney resort restaurant, and a couple of Food & Wine marketplaces that are still on the way.
Let's get into it. 👇
Food Allergy Tips
EPCOT Food & Wine Is Using an “Allergy Phone” System — Here’s How It Works
If you’ve been following food allergy coverage from the opening days of the 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, you may have noticed something a little different at the Global Marketplaces: phones being used as part of the allergy ordering process.
When a guest tells a Cast Member at a participating festival booth that they have a food allergy, the Cast Member may contact a Disney chef by phone. Instead of relying solely on the Cast Member at the booth to answer detailed allergy questions, this process can give guests an opportunity to discuss their order directly with a chef before deciding whether they’re comfortable eating any given item.
The phone itself isn’t necessarily new. Chef phone consultations have been reported at EPCOT festivals for several years. What appears to be getting more attention this year is the use of “Accept Consult” and “Decline Consult” as part of Disney’s allergy ordering process.
What Disney Officially Says
Disney’s published guidance for the 2026 Food & Wine Festival instructs guests with food allergies to speak with a Cast Member about their allergy-friendly request. Guests looking for additional information can also request to speak with a Special Diets Trained Cast Member.
Disney also states that its restaurants take steps to prevent cross-contact, but it does not have separate allergen-free kitchens and cannot guarantee that a menu item is completely free of allergens.
What Disney does not currently explain publicly is the “Accept Consult” and “Decline Consult” terminology guests are reporting seeing during the ordering process.
What Is “Accept Consult”?
Based on reports from guests at Walt Disney World, Accept Consult is being used when a guest chooses to have an additional consultation with a chef or other trained culinary Cast Member regarding their allergy request.
At an EPCOT festival booth, that conversation may happen over the phone rather than having a chef physically come to the marketplace.
This is an opportunity to ask more specific questions about an item — including its ingredients, how it is prepared and potential cross-contact concerns — directly with culinary personnel before placing or completing your order.
Guests have also reported that the consultation is documented as part of the allergy ordering process.
What About “Decline Consult”?
Guests have also reported seeing Decline Consult when proceeding with an allergy order without an additional direct chef or manager consultation.
There’s an important distinction here: Disney has not published an official explanation defining “Accept Consult” or “Decline Consult.” Because of that, we would not assume exactly what declining a consultation means at every location.
If you are presented with these options and are unsure, ask the Cast Member to explain what accepting or declining the consultation means before making your decision.
For guests managing severe food allergies, our preference would generally be to take advantage of the opportunity to speak directly with trained culinary personnel whenever that option is available.
Does Every Food & Wine Booth Have the Allergy Phone?
This is where things get a little more complicated.
The EPCOT festival marketplaces include both Disney-operated and third-party-operated locations, and allergy procedures have historically differed between them.
Current guest reports indicate that third-party locations may provide full ingredient information but they do not offer the same allergy phone consultation process. Procedures can vary by marketplace, so we would not assume that an experience at one booth will be identical at the next.
That makes declaring your allergy at every individual location especially important.
So, Is This a New Disney Allergy Policy?
Not exactly.
The use of phones to contact culinary staff at EPCOT festivals has been reported for several years. The more notable development appears to be Disney’s broader use of the Accept Consult / Decline Consult terminology and documentation within the allergy ordering process.
It’s also important to separate the two pieces of information: Disney officially tells guests to declare their allergy and provides access to Special Diets Trained Cast Members, while the specific Accept/Decline terminology is currently based on guest reports rather than a publicly available Disney policy.
As the 2026 Food & Wine Festival continues, we’ll be watching to see whether Disney releases additional guidance or whether the process changes as Cast Members and guests become more familiar with the system.
Our Take
We like the idea of giving food allergy guests a direct line to someone who can provide more detailed information about their order — particularly in the unique environment of an EPCOT festival booth.
If you’re offered a culinary consultation, use it. Ask about the ingredients, preparation process and potential for cross-contact, and don’t be afraid to ask follow-up questions if something isn’t clear.
Most importantly, remember that a conversation with a chef, an allergy menu or an ingredient list does not replace your own judgment. Disney itself states that it cannot guarantee that any food item is completely free of allergens.
The goal of the process is to give you more information. The final decision about whether you feel comfortable eating an item is still yours.

More Disney Dining Updates!

📸 Disney - Chipotle Chicken Tostada from The Diamond Horseshoe
Disney Reveals the Full Diamond Horseshoe Pop-Up Menu
We finally have a full look at what's coming to The Diamond Horseshoe when its new limited-time dining experience opens at Magic Kingdom on October 4.
Disney revealed the complete menu this week, featuring a lineup of shareable, Frontier-inspired dishes including Sweet Golden Corn Fritters and Queso Fundido with Barbecue Burnt Ends, along with entrées, desserts and a new selection of drinks.
Reservations for the pop-up are scheduled to open September 29.
For food allergy guests, we'll be especially interested to see what allergy-friendly options and accommodations are available once the experience opens. As always with a new dining offering, we recommend speaking directly with a Cast Member about your specific allergies rather than relying solely on the standard menu.
Yachtsman Steakhouse Reopens at Disney's Yacht Club Resort
After being closed for more than three months for refurbishment, Yachtsman Steakhouse reopened on August 28 at Disney's Yacht Club Resort.
The signature restaurant has also added two new dishes to its menu: a 10-ounce American Wagyu New York Strip served with a loaded baked potato and brandy-peppercorn sauce, and Black Garlic Fettuccine featuring house-made pasta, baby squash, heirloom cherry tomatoes, mushroom conserva and a creamy black garlic sauce.
If Yachtsman is on your upcoming dining list, remember that menu descriptions alone should never be used to determine whether an item is safe for your allergies. Declare your allergies when you arrive and ask about available allergy-friendly preparations.
More Food & Wine Marketplaces Are Still Coming
The 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival may already be underway, but not every marketplace has opened yet.
Disney currently lists Festival Favorites at CommuniCore Hall as opening September 9, bringing back popular dishes from previous EPCOT festivals.
Then, beginning September 18, The Wedge Hosted by Dairy Does More is scheduled to open with a menu centered around macaroni and cheese dishes and a shake. The Wedge is currently scheduled to operate through November 8, while the overall Food & Wine Festival continues through November 21.
We'll continue watching Disney's allergy information as these additional locations open—especially to see how the festival's allergy consultation process is handled at each new marketplace.
