Set Your Expectations LOW!
We’ve all been here. You walk into a restaurant expecting that meal you saw online, only to find out it is no longer safe for you… It can be one of the most frustrating moments of your trip.
The #1 mistake we see families make is setting their expectations too high.
You see all of these incredible meals online — perfect allergy-friendly plates, amazing desserts, people having great experiences — and it’s easy to get excited. But just because you see something online does not mean you’ll be able to get that exact thing when you’re there.
Menus change, ingredients change, and kitchen processes change. That photo you saw could already be outdated. And for parents especially, try not to promise your kids a specific meal ahead of time — that’s where we see the biggest disappointment happen.
But if you can shift your mindset, it makes all the difference. You may not get that exact chocolate cake you saw posted… but you will have options, a chef will work with you, and your meal will be safe — and that’s what really matters.

Sci-Fi Drive In Theater

Ingredients and kitchen processes change all the time.
Sci-Fi Drive-In Theater at Hollywood Studios is one of our favorite sports for a more relaxed, low-stress dining experience - especially when managing food allergies. The atmosphere is fun and the allergy process is consistently solid.
Since this is a Disney owned restaurant, they will follow the strict protocols that make Disney the “gold standard” for food allergies.
Fan-favorite allergen safe eats include their signature burgers (pictured above) which usually can be served on a high quality allergy-friendly bun. The french fries are also a good option as they often have a dedicated allergen-free fryer.
One of the coolest parts about the Sci-Fi Drive In Theater is their dairy free milkshakes. They offer typically chocolate, vanilla, or oreo flavored made with plant-based ice cream made with ingredients like soy, rice, or pea protein. Be sure to verify the ingredients on site at the time of your visit.
💙 A couple friendly reminders: Make sure to always speak with a chef when ordering. Be sure to confirm everything again with the server when your meal is brought out. And if something doesn’t feel right, just skip it. It is up to you to make the final decision.

A member asked about gluten free pizza at Trattoria al Forno. Even though the food allergy menu doesn’t explicitly say it, they will often be able to make a gluten free pizza for you! Make sure to confirm all ingredients and processes at the time of your visit.
Yak & Yeti Proves To Be A Good Option
One member of our group asked if Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom is safe for peanut and tree nut allergies. Multiple other members shared that they were able to eat here free of all nuts.
Via Napoli Mixed Reviews
Members in our Facebook group discussed past visits to Via Napoli, some saying they were great at accommodating food allergies, others said they did not feel comfortable. Via Napoli is not Disney owned.
