CROSS CONTAMINATION: What Disney Will and Won't Promise

The words “promise” and “guarantee” are tricky ones when it comes to food allergies. You and I both know that.

Disney goes to extensive lengths to maintain a safe environment for everyone dining with food allergies. This is the reason we love Disney so much.

But with that said, officially Disney does not guarantee or promise zero risk of cross contamination since they do not have completely separate, allergen free kitchens.

What Disney WILL do

Disney remains the gold standard for accommodating food allergies. As we mentioned above, all of the Cast Members go to great lengths to make your experience as magical as possible. And of course, that means keeping you safe.

What Disney won’t promise

It is important to understand that Cast Members are still human and mistakes CAN still happen. It is incredibly important to always stay vigilant.

It’s so easy to let your guard down on Disney property, but the bottom line is the responsibility still falls on you to make an informed decision based on your specific allergens.

What YOU can do

Here are some precautions that you can take yourself to ensure you or your child have a safe and magical experience dining at Disney.

The Bottom Line

Disney puts a considerable effort into accommodating food allergies and Cast Members are extremely well trained. Even though Disney is known as the gold standard, the risk of cross contamination will always remain possible in a shared kitchen.

The main reason I am writing this is to make you know what Disney can do, and then from there you can make an informed decision on each and every meal.

For those of us with food allergies, ordering pizza at a restaurant is almost always off the table. Substitutions are rare and cross-contact concerns usually make it a hard no. So when a place makes it possible to safely enjoy pizza, it feels genuinely special.

Moments like this remind families that safe dining doesn't have to mean missing out — and that's something worth celebrating.

This is a meal we got at Trattoria al Forno on Disney's Boardwalk. As you know, Disney's allergy process makes all the difference.

After flagging the allergy, we were able to speak directly with a chef which is always the best practice when managing food allergies. The chef helped clarify what could be prepared safely. Clear communication happened before ordering, and extra care was taken during preparation to reduce the risk of cross-contact as Disney always does. Being able to ask questions and understand how the meal would be handled is why experiences like this help allergy families feel more confident dining here.

This summer is set to be a big one for Disney Springs with plenty of new editions set to be opened.

The biggest addition is Level99 — a massive, interactive gaming space with 60+ real-world challenges that mix physical activity with puzzle-solving. Think fast-paced mini games, head-to-head duels, and a full food and bar setup with things like Detroit-style pizza and wagyu burgers, all in one spot.

On the food side, Six Ravens is a brand-new concept from Gideon's Bakehouse, and it’s bringing something totally different. Their focus is on savory, grab-and-go “Coffyns” — basically stuffed pastry rolls inspired by medieval recipes — plus sides, dipping sauces, and local Orlando craft beer. It’s shaping up to be a quick but unique option, especially if you’re looking for something beyond the typical theme park food.
