Hi everyone,
We’re sending an extra email this week because this update is too important to wait on. If you or someone in your family has a tree-nut allergy—this is something you MUST be aware of before your next Disney meal.
What’s changed?
Effective October 6, 2026, Disney says dishes containing certain ingredients may now be included in allergy-friendly options at Disney owned and operated restaurants. This follows updated FDA guidance that no longer classifies these ingredients as major tree-nut allergens.
The ingredients are:
coconut
chestnut
shea
kola nut
beechnut
butternut
chinquapin
ginkgo but
hickory but
palm nut
pili nut
What does this mean for your family?
A dish listed as tree-nut allergy-friendly could still contain one of these ingredients.
The change in classification does not mean these foods can’t cause allergic reactions. If you’re allergic to coconut, chestnut or another ingredient on this list, name it specifically when ordering. Don’t assume that saying “tree-nut allergy” covers everything you need to avoid.
Ask to speak with a Special Diets-trained Cast Member or a Chef and have them review the current ingredients with you before you order. Discuss preparation and cross-contact, too.
One more reminder
Disney also states that voluntary package warnings, such as “may contain,” are not taken into consideration when developing allergy-friendly meals. If those warnings affect your food choices, ask about the labels on the products being used. This is a separate reminder from the October 6 change.
As we always say, the allergy-friendly menu can help you plan, but the conversation at the restaurant is what matters. An older screenshot—or a meal you’ve ordered before—doesn’t confirm the ingredients being used today.

Please share this with another Disney food allergy family who needs to know. We’ll be back with our regular newsletter next week, but we wanted you to have this information now.
