Good morning everyone — I hope you're having a great week! 💙

Halloween is officially underway at Walt Disney World, and this week we're breaking down how allergy-friendly trick-or-treating works at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

We're also catching up on some big news out of D23, including new dining coming to Monstropolis and fresh details about Villains Land and Tropical Americas.

A lot is coming to Walt Disney World over the next few years — and as always, we'll be keeping an eye on what it all means for guests with food allergies.

Let's get into it. 👇

Your Guide to Allergy-Friendly Trick-or-Treating at Magic Kingdom

📸 Disney

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is officially underway at Magic Kingdom, running on select nights through October 31. Along with the costumes, entertainment and Halloween-exclusive food, trick-or-treating is a huge part of the party — and Disney has a separate system in place for guests with food allergies.

Here is exactly how it works 👇

Start With a Teal Treat Bag

Guests with food allergies can pick up a teal-colored treat bag when they arrive at the party. The teal bag lets Cast Members at the trick-or-treat locations know that you need allergy-friendly options, without even saying a word.

Rather than receiving the regular candy being handed out, guests using the allergy-friendly system can collect teal tokens as they make their way through the treat trails.

Those tokens can then be exchanged for allergy-friendly treats at Disney's designated Allergy-Friendly Centers. Disney has listed two redemption locations: Merchant of Venus in Tomorrowland and the Liberty Square Ticket Office.

Disney also says individual trick-or-treat locations will have a small selection of allergy-friendly treats available, while the Allergy-Friendly Centers will have more options.

What Does “Allergy-Friendly” Actually Mean Here?

This is where we recommend treating the process just like you would anywhere else at Walt Disney World.

The teal bag and token system gives guests with food allergies an alternative to the standard trick-or-treat candy, but as always, you have to be an advocate for yourself.

Before eating any of the treats you receive, check the packaging and ingredient information for your specific allergens. If you have questions about a product and aren't comfortable with the information available, just skip it.

We also recommend bringing some of your own trusted candy or snacks into the park. The allergy-friendly system gives families more options, but having something you already know is safe can make the night much easier — especially if you have multiple or less common food allergies.

Trick-or-Treating and Halloween Menu Items Are Different

One important distinction: the allergy-friendly trick-or-treating program does not mean that the Halloween specialty foods around Magic Kingdom are allergy-friendly.

Disney has released a full 2026 Foodie Guide featuring party-exclusive desserts, snacks and drinks available throughout Magic Kingdom. These are separate from the whole teal bag and token program.

If you're interested in trying one of the Halloween menu items, let the Cast Member assisting you know about your food allergy and ask about the ingredients and preparation process. Depending on the location and item, options and accommodations may vary.

What We Would Do

If we were attending Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with a food allergy, we'd grab the teal bag as soon as we arrived and use the token system throughout the night. Always double check those ingredient lists.

For the specialty Halloween food, we'd treat it exactly like any other food at Disney: never assume an item is safe based on its description or appearance, and always speak with a Cast Member about your allergy before ordering.

Food allergies shouldn't mean missing out on one of the biggest parts of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and we love that Disney's teal bag system gives allergy families a way to participate in the trick-or-treating experience alongside everyone else.

Disney News

Updates from D23!

Disney just wrapped up a huge weekend of announcements at D23, giving us a much better look at what's coming to Walt Disney World over the next several years. While most of the headlines centered around new attractions, there were also some exciting dining updates that caught our attention.

New Dining Is Coming to Monstropolis

Disney revealed a much closer look at Monstropolis, the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2027.

📸 Disney

For us, one of the biggest announcements was the dining. Harryhausen's, the restaurant where Mike and Celia go on their date in the original Monsters, Inc., is officially coming to life inside the new land. Disney has shown the restaurant as a Japanese-inspired dining location, bringing one of the movie's most recognizable restaurants into the real world.

Monstropolis will also include a new pizza location, along with the Monsters University Alumni Club, The Glob theater, shops and, of course, the massive new suspended coaster through the Monsters, Inc. door factory.

There aren't menus or allergy details to dig into just yet, but Harryhausen's and the other new dining locations will definitely be on our radar. As we get closer to opening, we'll be following along for menus and, most importantly, what these restaurants will offer guests with food allergies.

Villains Land Is Starting to Take Shape

We also finally got a much better idea of what Villains Land will look like when it eventually opens beyond Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom.

📸 Disney

Disney revealed two major attractions: a roller coaster featuring Maleficent and an indoor attraction centered around the Magic Mirror from Snow White. The land itself will bring together a collection of Disney villains in a dark, twisted environment unlike anything currently at Magic Kingdom.

And yes — there will be food.

Disney has confirmed that Villains Land will include themed dining and shopping, although we don't have restaurant names, menus or many dining details yet. We'll be watching this one closely as Disney begins revealing more about the land.

Animal Kingdom's Tropical Americas Gets More Details

Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney also shared more about Tropical Americas, the massive new land replacing DinoLand U.S.A.

Dining will also be a major part of the new land. Disney has previously announced that Pueblo Esperanza will feature a large hacienda that will become one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Walt Disney World.

There's still plenty we don't know about the food coming to Tropical Americas, Monstropolis and Villains Land. As Disney starts releasing restaurant names and menus, we'll be keeping a close eye on what all three additions could mean for food-allergy guests.
